1Who can use SWAPD

• You must be a current student at a school SWAPD supports.
• One account per student. Don't create a second account, and don't sign up for someone else.
• Don't share your account or let anyone else use it. You're responsible for what happens on it.
• Everyone re-verifies once a year. Accounts that aren't re-verified lose access to messaging, offers and selling.

2Be honest in your listings

• Only list things you actually own and are allowed to sell.
• Use your own photos of the actual item.
• Describe the condition accurately, including flaws, damage and anything that doesn't work.
• Set a real price, and mark the listing as pending or sold when that's what it is.

3Prohibited items

Anything illegal, age-restricted or unsafe can't be listed. That includes alcohol, nicotine and vapes, drugs, weapons, adult products, medication and stolen goods. The full list is on the safety page.

4Treat people with respect

• No harassment, threats, hate speech, bullying or sexual content. Not in listings, not in messages, not at meetups.
• Don't spam, and don't keep messaging someone who has stopped replying or asked you to stop.
• Don't pressure anyone to pay early, to meet somewhere private or to move the conversation off SWAPD.

5No contact info in listings

Don't put phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles or street addresses in a listing. Arrange everything through SWAPD messages, and never share your home address.

6Your school's rules come first

SWAPD does not give anyone permission to sell at school. School rules and California law still apply, and breaking them can get you in trouble at school regardless of anything on SWAPD. For Campbell Union High School District schools (Leigh, Branham, Del Mar, Boynton), the district handbook says:

• Campuses are closed during school hours (7:00am–4:00pm). Students stay on campus all day, and the campus is closed to non-students. Don't plan a meetup that needs someone to come onto campus during the day.
• Phones and personal electronics are put away for the whole school day. Use SWAPD before school, after school or at home — not in class.
• Parking lots are off-limits during the school day, and loitering in the neighborhood or nearby business areas before, during or after school is prohibited. Don't use those as meetup spots.
• Possessing, using, selling or furnishing tobacco, nicotine or vapes, alcohol or any controlled substance is banned at all times, and selling a controlled substance or a firearm leads to expulsion. None of these can ever be listed or exchanged.
• Fundraising and sales on campus are organized by the school and its clubs. Personal selling on campus is not a school-approved activity, so treat any SWAPD exchange as something that happens outside school hours, off campus, in a public place.
• Anything the school lends you — uniforms, equipment, textbooks, Chromebooks — belongs to the school and can't be sold.

Other schools have their own handbooks with similar rules. Read yours. If a rule at your school conflicts with something here, follow your school.

7Payments

• All payments happen in person, at the meetup, after the buyer has inspected the item. SWAPD never sends, holds or refunds money.
• The payment methods shown on a seller's profile and listings are just what they say they accept (for example cash or Venmo). SWAPD doesn't verify them and isn't part of the payment.
• Never pay a deposit, pay ahead, or send money to "hold" an item. Anyone who asks you to is breaking these rules — report them.
• If SWAPD ever adds in-app payments, it will be a separate, clearly announced feature with its own terms. Nothing on the site today is that.

8SWAPD is only the venue

SWAPD is a place for students to find each other. That's all it is. Specifically:

• SWAPD is not a party to any exchange. The deal is between the buyer and the seller.
• SWAPD does not process, hold or refund payments. Money changes hands in person, between the two of you.
• SWAPD does not inspect or verify items, and can't promise that an item is authentic, working or as described.
• SWAPD cannot guarantee that any transaction will happen or go the way you hoped.

Inspect the item before you pay. If it isn't right, it's fine to walk away.

9Your safety responsibilities

Meet in a public place, at a reasonable time, and let a parent, guardian or trusted adult know. Don't send money before you've seen the item. The full checklist is on the safety page. If you're ever in immediate danger, call 911.

10Moderation

Listings are screened automatically and reviewed by moderators. Listings that break these rules can be removed, and accounts can be suspended or banned. Because there is one account per student ID, a ban follows the student, not just the account. You can report a listing or a user at any time.

11Not affiliated with any school

SWAPD is an independent, student-focused project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any school or school district, even when a school's name appears on the site to describe a community.

12Changes to these rules

These rules will change as SWAPD grows, and they will be replaced with reviewed terms before any public launch. If something important changes, we'll say so on the site. Continuing to use SWAPD means you accept the current rules. How your information is handled is covered on the privacy page.
